IGNORANCE: having no knowledge or understanding.

I remain baffled from what I hear from my fellow stroke survivors.
Would you ask a cancer patient, ''how does it feel?'' ''when will this be over?''
Everyone is different, but we do share one thing in common...learning, learnt to walk. Progress is progress.
Our affected side has no muscle tone. No muscle tone, I repeat. Don't flex your hand or move your foot and think for one second it's duable. For those that don't understand, think of a boiled spaghetti, now try walking on that.
In my early days of my stroke, I described how it felt trying to walk,
''I'm wearing a ski boot on my left affected side, spasticity hurts. I feel like I'm on a boat on a windy day, balance alone takes all my concentration''
Our cognitive brain goes into overtime every time we take a step, balancing, one step at a time, scoping the dips and cracks of the pavement, while maintaining our balance with the help of our canes. Sounds familiar?
If you can maintain your balance, your focus, your safety, and smile. I applaud you.
We have spent thousands of $$$ trying to find the right fit for ankle braces, to prevent dropped foot, twisting our ankles, and unnecessary falls. I thank you for sharing your links to reach out to our fellow stroke survivors on what has worked for you. Remember, safety first.

With the heavy ski boot feeling, spasticity, aches and pains... I get it. We inherited the weather network, a bowl of anxieties, and can predict the weather before we get out of bed by our affected side.
But one thing is guaranteed. We will ALL get old. Stroke Survivors or not. And, the importance of moving is crucial to one's recovery.
I have tried many and I mean many different types of ankle braces, and I've attached some links from your fellow stroke survivors to try...where there is a problem, there is always a solution.
IF YOU DON'T TRY, HOW WILL YOU KNOW HOW AMAZING YOU REALLY ARE?
